A new chapter begins this fall as Batten University welcomes its first class of students under its new name, including new and continuing students enrolling in newly acquired programs offered through Sentara College of Health Sciences. The campus community is also excited to welcome back continuing Marlins.

From move-in, to orientation programs and a full calendar of events, the start of the fall semester is designed to help students feel at home, find their community and begin the fall semester with knowledge and confidence.

For traditional first-year and transfer students, the journey began with move-in and a series of activities designed to make the transition to college exciting and welcoming. Events such as the Glow Party and First Year Fest gave new students opportunities to meet classmates, build friendships and experience campus life beyond the classroom.

Informational sessions during orientation, from “Unlocking Your Digital Backpack and  “Money Matters,” to “Anchored in Resources” and “Building Your Batten Crew,” were all designed to assist students in becoming acclimated to college life.

Orientation programming was intentionally created with the different experiences students bring to campus in mind. First-time students, transfer students, international students and commuting students each had opportunities to connect with resources, meet others with similar experiences, and learn how to navigate the University.

The goal was more than simply helping students find their way around campus. It was also focused on helping them find their people, discover opportunities and reafirm that they belong at Batten.

As the University welcomed students from across the region and around the world, fall 2026 represents more than the beginning of another academic year. It is the beginning of a new era for Batten University, one that brings together new students, new academic opportunities, and a renewed sense of community.

For every student, there is a place at Batten and a community ready to welcome them.
