FOCUS-2

FOCUS-2 is a free, self-guided online program that helps you explore majors and career paths based on your interests, values, skills, personality, and aspirations. It’s the best place to start if you’re not sure where you’re headed — and it’s worth revisiting even if you’ve already declared.

First-Time Users

1. Contact Career Development at careerdevelopment@batten.edu to create a new account and receive your access code.
2. Create a username and password. Remember them — the CDP won’t have them on file.
3. Register at FOCUS-2 using your access code.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of FOCUS-2

• Start with the sections most relevant to you — you don’t have to complete everything at once.
• Each section takes 10–15 minutes; the full program takes about two hours.
• You can exit and return at any time — your progress is saved.
• When finished, print or save your reports and schedule an appointment to discuss your results with CDP staff.

More Tools & Resources

FOCUS-2 is a great starting point, but it’s not the only tool available. Here are a few more worth exploring:

• What Can I Do With This Major? — Explore career areas, employer types, and strategies to make yourself a more marketable candidate for any major.
• My Next Move — Search over 900 careers by keyword, industry, or the O*NET Interest Profiler. Includes salary, skills, and job outlook data.
• CareerOneStop Career Videos — Short videos covering careers, skills, and industries — useful for brainstorming options you might not have considered.
• O*NET OnLine — In-depth career exploration and job analysis tool used by career counselors nationwide.

Also consider attending a “Choosing Your Major” workshop or the annual Majors & Minors Fair — both are great opportunities to explore options and talk with faculty and students across departments. Check Handshake for upcoming dates.
