Transfer Into the Teacher Education Program

Programs Available to Transfer Students
The Teacher Education Program at Batten University is known for excellence in preparing classroom teachers. Transfer students may enter the following undergraduate programs leading to Virginia teaching licensure:

The Batten University Transfer Guide provides basic guidelines for acceptable courses that can be transferred to Batten University.
Receiving Credit for Coursework
Transfer credits are evaluated by the Registrar’s Office. The Director of the Education Program evaluates courses that may transfer directly into education programs. Transfer credits and waivers may require:
- A formal request by the student
- Course descriptions and syllabi from the transferring institution
- An official college transcript
- Course grades of C or higher
Receiving Credit for Life Experiences
The Director of the Education Program will review any previous teaching experience, which may allow for an abbreviated practicum or pre-service teaching placement. Credit for life experiences may require:
- A formal request by the student
- Written letters of recommendation
- Copies of contracts for teaching experiences
- Other written proof of participation in appropriate classroom settings
