Recruitment Schedule
All students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority must complete the Fraternity & Sorority Life Interest Form to be eligible for membership. High school or college grades will be reviewed to verify eligibility. Each council recruits on a different schedule and process — details for each are provided below.
Panhellenic Council — Sororities
Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Sigma Sigma
Panhellenic sororities participate in continuous open bidding (COB) throughout the academic year. COB events are free and open to any woman interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority. There is no minimum attendance requirement, but attending more events increases your chances of receiving an invitation to membership (bid). Women who receive multiple invitations must select one to accept. More details are provided at the beginning of each semester.
National Pan-Hellenic Council — Fraternities & Sororities
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Zeta Phi Beta
NPHC organizations use a membership intake process that is by invitation only. Students interested in joining one of these organizations should attend information sessions and other chapter-hosted programs to meet current members and learn about their traditions and requirements. More details are provided when chapters schedule information sessions.
Interfraternity Council — Fraternities
Sigma Nu
IFC fraternities host a series of recruitment-focused events at the beginning of each semester. Recruitment events are free and open to any full-time Batten University man who meets the GPA standards of the respective member fraternities. Each chapter hosts multiple activities throughout the recruitment period. There is no minimum attendance requirement, but attending more events increases your chances of receiving a bid. Men who receive multiple invitations must select one to accept. More details are provided at the beginning of each semester.
