Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. - Official times and dates have been set for Virginia Wesleyan College's competition in the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III men's and women's national championship soccer tournaments.
The Marlin men will play Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Salisbury, Md., against the host Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. The winner of that game advances to Sunday's second round contest beginning at 1 p.m. at Salisbury. Maryland's Johns Hopkins University and Pennsylvania's College Misericordia square off in the other half of the bracket.
The women's competition will also begin Saturday, Nov. 14, when the Marlins tangle with Pennsylvania's Eastern University at 2:30 p.m. on Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University (JHU). JHU and Pennsylvania's Cabrini College meet in the 12 p.m. game of the bracket. Winners of the two games advance to Sunday's 2 p.m. match-up.
Virginia Wesleyan men's fans unable to make the ride to Salisbury can listen to webcasts as Athletic Director Joanne Renn and Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Harold Dorton bring you the action, beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Should the Marlins advance to Sunday's game, that webcast will begin at 12:45 p.m.
Virginia Wesleyan women's fans can follow the Marlins through live stats or live video. Both services will be supplied by the Johns Hopkins sports information staff and can be found on the JHU athletics Web site.
