Welcome, Future Marlins

As a student at Batten University you will often be required to use a username and password. When you were accepted at Batten University you were assigned a student ID number. Your student ID number is your username. (If you've misplaced your student ID number, please contact the Office of Enrollment at 757.455.3208.)

You will need to create a personal password. To do so, you'll first create a temporary, single-use password and then use it to create your personal password. When you are ready to create your personal Batten University password, please click here.

Being able to use the Beacon will be key to your success at Batten University. The Beacon is your home for accessing your Self-Service Financial Aid portal, paying your bill, accessing your Batten University email, Blackboard, and WebAdvisor.

You can get to My Beacon by visiting www.batten.edu and clicking the Menu button — the link will be in the Quicklinks section. Or go directly using this link. Be sure to bookmark it for quick access.

Once you submit your enrollment deposit you will be assigned a Batten University email address in the following format: first letter of your first name, first letter of your middle name, full last name.

Once you are a deposited student it is important that you check your Batten University email often. All correspondence from the University will be sent to this address! You can access your email account by going into My Beacon and clicking on the Gmail link. Your username is your entire email address: btmarlin@batten.edu. Your password will be the one you created. Should you have questions about your password, see "Create Your Batten Password" above.

You can access your Financial Aid Self Service Portal by going into My Beacon and clicking on the Financial Aid Self Service icon. It is important that you log into your portal to review and accept your financial aid. Do so using your username (student ID number) and personal password. (See above for instructions about your personal password.)

If you have any issues accessing your portal please contact your enrollment counselor in the Center for Enrollment Services (757.455.3208).

To pay your bill you can access the Bill Payment portal in My Beacon. You can pay your bill electronically 24/7 through the payment portal. When you click on the Bill Payment Icon you will be directed to a login page where you will be asked to enter your username (your student ID number) and your personal password. Should you have questions about your password, see "Create Your Batten Password" above.

You can also pay with a check or cash in the Office of Finance Monday–Friday 8:30am–4:30pm. Should you have questions about your bill or this process you can contact the Office of Finance at 757-455-3280.

Payment Plans: We offer payment plans that allow you to pay your bill in monthly or quarterly installments. We recommend you set up your payment plan in July — the cycle for Fall runs July–November and Spring runs December–April. Read more about payment plans.

Health Insurance: You will note a charge on your bill for student health insurance. If you have insurance on your own or through a parent you will need to waive the Batten University insurance by completing an insurance waiver.

You will also be asked to complete the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement (SFRA) form from the Office of Finance.

Parking on campus requires registering your vehicle with Security in order to receive a Batten University Parking Decal. All students are charged a vehicle registration fee:

• Residential Students — $250.00
• Commuter Students — $150.00

To register your vehicle:

1. Go to your WebAdvisor Account
2. Log in using your Batten University credentials
3. Navigate to "Web Miscellaneous Programs" in your Student Account
4. Click on "Vehicle Registration"
5. Complete the required fields
6. Pick up your Vehicle Decal from the Security Office when you're on campus!

During the summer, you will receive an email (to your Batten University email account) with information on how to access StarRez — our online portal for the housing selection process.

If you already know who you would like your roommate to be, you will need to list their name on your housing application. If you don't, that is okay! You will answer questions through the housing application that will help us match you with potential roommates. You and other students will be able to communicate through StarRez to decide if you are a match or not.

You will be notified of your placement via email and will be able to see room assignment and roommate information in the StarRez portal where you submitted your application.

Details regarding move-in will be forthcoming from Residence Life. If you are participating in a fall sport, please speak with your Coach about move-in specifics.
