By Staff | December 5, 2011
The last two weeks of the fall 2011 semester will be busy ones for Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty and staff as final exams get underway and a series of campus events put everyone in the holiday spirit.
Regularly scheduled classes wrap up this week and exams run Dec. 9 through Dec. 15. A reception for December graduates will be held on Dec. 11. The Dean’s List athletes for the semester will be honored at the State Farm/VWC Scholar Athlete Recognition on Dec. 6 during the Marlins Men’s Basketball game against Methodist University.
Students and other members of the campus community can get in the mood for giving back by attending one of two volunteer orientations for the annual On-Campus Winter Homeless Shelter that will take place at VWC Jan. 8-15. Attendance at one of the orientations, being held Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Shafer Room, is a requirement to volunteer for the shelter. Volunteers are also needed for the Salvation Army Christmas Depot, which distributes toys, clothing and food to local families in need, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. Contact Diane Hotaling with the Office of Community Service at 757.455.3216 or dhotaling@vwu.edu for more information.
