Have A Delicious Evening with Wesleyan’s First Dessert Theater
The drama club presents An Actor's Nightmare and serves some delicious treats. 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15.
Norfolk/ Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College’s drama club hosts its first Dessert Theater at 7 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 14, and 2 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 15, in the Hofheimer Theatre in the Fine Arts building on the College campus.
The dessert theater takes place Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in Virginia Wesleyan's Hofheimer Theatre. Tickets are $3 each and will be sold at the door.Drama club members Jose Maldanado ’12, Alycia Mixon ’10, Kaitlin Harris ’12, Katie Zitz ’11 and Meghan See ’11 will perform Christopher Durang’s An Actor's Nightmare. The show is directed by Shannon Agostino ’10.
Durang’s short, comic play revolves around an actor’s nightmare of forgetting his lines. While he battles with his confusion, so too will the audience members. The play continually shifts as different actors come on reciting lines from Noel Coward's Private Lives, Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Robert Bolt’s A Man for All Seasons and a mixture of some Samuel Beckett plays such as Endgame, Waiting for Godot and Checkmate.
Meghan See, president of the drama club, said this show is for everyone to see.
“This show references several famous plays, and even if you don't understand the references, it's still funny,” said See. “An Actor's Nightmare deals with something any audience member can relate to: public embarrassment.”
A variety of desserts including chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, and oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies will be served throughout the performance.
The dessert theater takes place Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in Virginia Wesleyan's Hofheimer Theatre. Tickets are $3 each and will be sold at the door.
