Come one, come all! Virginia Wesleyan College will hold its annual Homecoming & Parent Weekend festivities Oct. 2-4 with a “Carnival” theme carried throughout a fun-filled weekend. Here's a look ahead to some of our favorite campus traditions and events:

Friday, October 2

The Homecoming Parade, hosted by the Student Government Association, will take place Friday afternoon on the sidewalk outside the Batten Student Center (2:30-3:30 p.m.). Members of the VWC community will show their Marlin spirit with costumes and skits of all kinds, and the more imaginative skits will receive prizes for most creative, most spirit and best overall. A few special four-legged friends will make an appearance at the faculty/staff pet parade.

The popular Oktoberfest Dinner will be held in Boyd Dining Center (5:30-7 p.m.), followed by a presentation of the fall theatre production of John Cariani's romantic comedy Almost Maine  in Hofheimer Theater. The evening will end with the student Homecoming Dance and an off-campus Alumni Social (Shore Break, 7-10 p.m.).

Saturday, October 3

Saturday’s festivities will get underway with Continental & Cocktails, hosted by President Scott D. Miller and the VWC Parents’ Council at the Everett Tennis Center (9:30-11 a.m.).

Conference Athletic Games will also be held on Saturday, with competitions by men’s and women’s soccer, and field hockey and volleyball. In the spirit of friendly competition, Alumni Games will be held by men’s and women’s lacrosse and the baseball and softball teams. View Schedule

Faculty Tent, Tailgate, and Alumni Reunion activities will continue into the afternoon (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) with lunch options on the food truck midway, a glassblowing demonstration by The Chrysler Museum of Art, inflatables and activities for children, alumni giveaways, and tables for student clubs and Greek organizations. An afternoon and evening performance of the fall theatre production Almost Maine  will take place in Hofheimer Theater (2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.). Students will later enjoy a large-screen showing of Minions in Blocker Auditorium.

Sunday, October 4

Homecoming & Parent Weekend will conclude Sunday with brunch in Boyd Dining Center (10:45 a.m.) and a worship service in Monumental Chapel (11 a.m.). A field hockey game will take place at Birdsong Field (2 p.m.), and the fall theatre production Almost Maine  will take place in Hofheimer Theater (2 p.m.).
