Virginia Wesleyan President Billy Greer sits down with local radio host Cathy Lewis for his annual address to faculty and staff

On September 23, 2011, Virginia Wesleyan faculty and staff joined President Greer and Cathy Lewis H'09, host of “Hearsay” on 89.5 WHRV FM public radio, in the Jane P. Batten Convocation Center for a conversation about the state of the College.
They covered a broad range of topics from the College’s 50th anniversary, record-breaking incoming freshman class and the challenges of growth to the new enhanced curriculum, student and faculty accomplishments, and academic grants and development initiatives.
President Greer closed his remarks by telling faculty and staff that this is “our time to become more productive, more efficient and more affordable…our time to become the most talked about mid-sized liberal arts college in the country.”
He emphasized that the value of “our kind of education” goes far beyond milestones and measurements.
“Buildings and programs are nice things and we need them,” he said. “But we will not be measured at the end of the day by such things. We will be measured by our level of service to those around us. We will ask ourselves the question at the end of the day: Did we do all we could do here at this powerhouse of a little place to change lives in Hampton Roads and beyond? It’s all about enriching lives and helping people to have an even greater vision of where they want to go and what they want to do. It’s our time.”
