Marlin Scholarship Fund Offers Financial Support to Returning Students

The College will award competitive one-year scholarships ranging from $500 – $3,000 to current students based on academic performance, financial need and extracurricular involvement.

Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – For the second year, Virginia Wesleyan College is offering additional financial support to returning students through the Marlin Scholarship Fund.  This competitive one-year scholarship ranges from $500 – $3,000.Application and all requested materials must be received in the Financial Aid Office by April 1, 2010.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

An applicant must:

  • Be a current full-time, degree-seeking, day student enrolled at Virginia Wesleyan for the spring 2010 semester.
  • Have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours by the end of the spring 2010 semester.
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA at Virginia Wesleyan at the end of the fall 2009 semester.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Have a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file by April 1, 2010.
    (Financial need will be taken into consideration.)


SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Students must enroll full time for the 2010-2011 academic year and maintain satisfactory academic progress.  The application and all requested materials must be received in the Financial Aid Office by April 1, 2010.

All applicants will be notified by May 15, 2010. Awards will be evenly distributed between the fall and spring semesters for the 2010-2011 academic year.
