Reception Honors Wesleyan’s December Graduates

The ceremony gives immediate recognition to students who have completed their studies at the end of the fall semester.  2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6.

altNorfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College community will gather at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Convocation Center of the Jane P. Batten Student Center for the December Graduate Reception, which honors approximately 40 students who have completed their studies at Virginia Wesleyan at the end of the fall semester.

Dr. Kathy Stolley, Batten Associate Professor of Sociology and recipient of the 2009 Samuel Nelson Gray Distinguished Teaching Award, will address the students with her speech, “Sociology To Go.”  Invocation will be provided by the College’s Chaplain Rev. Florence Brooks, opening remarks provided by Professor of Religious Studies Dr. Craig Wansink, greeting provided by President Billy Greer, and welcoming remarks provided by President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors Kevin Dolliver '87.

Refreshments will be provided immediately following the reception in the Marlin Grille.  December graduates will also receive a small gift from the Virginia Wesleyan Alumni Association.

The December Graduate Reception is an annual event that provides immediate recognition to students who complete their studies at the end of the fall semester. All December graduates are invited to participate in the May 2010 Commencement ceremonies, which will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010.
