Transfer Students Compete for Scholarships

The annual Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Competition awards annual scholarships up to $15,000.  Application deadline: Friday, March 19.

altNorfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College’s annual Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Competition, which awards scholarships up to $15,000 annually to transfer students, will be held Monday, March 29, on the College campus.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier, two-year honor society for students at junior and community colleges.  Students participating in the competition have received a transfer track Associate's Degree and been admitted to Virginia Wesleyan for fall 2010, are a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5.

“With Virginia Wesleyan’s generous policy for accepting previous college course credits, this competition is an excellent opportunity for transfer students to experience the College and finish their bachelor’s degree at a top liberal arts institution.,” said Transfer Counselor Tanya Williams.

Students must submit an application for admission and all supporting documents by Friday, March 19.  Applications are available online or by contacting Virginia Wesleyan’s Admissions Office.Application deadline: Friday, March 19
