Two students have been selected to connect private college students with top Virginia corporations for internship and employment opportunities.

Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. - Amy Robinson, a sophomore criminal justice major, and Pamela Barber, a senior business major, have been selected as Virginia Wesleyan College’s representatives on a statewide advisory council focusing on connecting private college students with internship and employment opportunities at top Virginia employers.
Robinson and Barber will serve on the Student Advisory Council for Career 15, the innovative job placement network for students enrolled at the 15 private colleges and universities which are members of the statewide consortium supported by the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC). Each institution is represented by one student on the Council -- students were selected on the basis of academic achievement and leadership on campus.
Launched in 2008, Career 15 is a cost-efficient and time-efficient way to connect Virginia’s private college students with potential employers. Students and companies connect through postings on a central website and through regional events that bring student and employers face-to-face. Currently, over 100 employers are participating, as are over 2800 students.
On this Council, students provide advice to the staff of Career 15, and promote the program and its events on their campuses, with the goal of increasing student participation in the placement program. In this on-campus work, Robinson and Barber work closely with Virginia Wesleyan College’s Director of Career Services, Lisa Fentress.
