Marlin Scholarship Funds Now Available; Current Virginia Wesleyan students encouraged to apply
As the semester winds to a close and the holiday break approaches, planning for the next academic year may be the furthest thing from students’ minds. But thinking ahead is essential when it comes to finances. 
The Marlin Scholarship Fund was designed to help current students stay on secure financial footing as they look towards continuing their education at VWC. This is particularly important in our current challenging economic climate.
“Marlin Scholarships can be a valuable resource for returning students to assist in covering the increase in cost for the 2011-2012 year,” says VWC Financial Aid Director Teresa Rhyne.
These competitive one-year scholarships in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,000 are now available for current Virginia Wesleyan students based on academic performance, financial need and extracurricular involvement.
Applicants must be current full-time, degree-seeking, day students enrolled at Virginia Wesleyan, have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours by the end of the spring 2011 semester, be U.S. citizens, and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA at Virginia Wesleyan at the end of the fall 2010 semester. Students must have a FAFSA on file by April 1, 2011 in order to be eligible. Awarded funds will apply to the 2011-2012 academic year.
