Wesleyan Aims to Set Record during “Bleed Blue and Silver” Blood Drive
The Office of Community Service hosts a blood drive, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, in hopes of collecting 1,500 pints of blood since 1998.
Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – The Office of Community Service at Virginia Wesleyan College, in partnership with the American Red Cross, hosts a “Bleed Blue and Silver” blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the C-MAC of the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
All Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty and staff, as well as the public, are encouraged to give blood to help the College reach a goal of 1,500 pints of blood donated since 1998.
“This really is a milestone giving event for Virginia Wesleyan College,” said Director of Community Service Diane Hotaling. “It’s incredible that our campus community has come together and is nearing 1,500 pints of donated blood since we began the program a decade ago.”
Each person who donates blood will receive a complimentary "I Bleed Blue and Silver" stadium cup. Individuals planning to donate blood are encouraged to eat iron-rich foods such as raisins, egg yolks, leafy green, beans and red meat.
