Batten University offers a $149 per credit hour grant to any student participating in the Evening & Weekend or Online Undergraduate programs who is using Military Tuition Assistance or is Active Duty (not using their GI Bill). The Military Grant creates a $250 per credit hour tuition rate.

To be eligible, you must submit your Tuition Assistance form or a copy of your current military orders before the beginning of each semester to Batten University's Certifying Official.

Please download and complete the Batten University Veteran Notification of Registration Form to submit with your class schedule.

Tuition and fees — If you qualify for the maximum benefit, the full cost of public, in-state tuition and fees are covered. There is a rate cap for private and foreign schools.

Money for housing — Receive a monthly housing allowance based on the cost of living where your school is located (if enrolled more than half-time).

Money for books and supplies — Receive up to the maximum stipend per school year.

Rural relocation benefit — You may qualify for a one-time payment if you live in a county with 6 or fewer people per square mile and are either moving at least 500 miles to attend school or have no option other than air travel to reach your school.

The MGIB-SR program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you're a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible.

Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, Batten University and the VA will match the amounts remaining for tuition and fees that exceed the academic year cap for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

Eligibility

Only veterans enrolled in the Post-9/11 GI Bill® who are entitled to the maximum benefit rate (based on service requirements), or their designated transferees, may receive this funding. Active duty service members and their spouses are not eligible (child transferees of active duty service members may be eligible if the service member qualifies at the 100% rate).

You may be eligible if:

• You served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 90 days
• You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability and served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001
• You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill® based on a veteran's service under the criteria listed above

All four service branches and the U.S. Coast Guard offer financial assistance for voluntary, off-duty education programs in support of service members' personal and professional goals. The program may fund up to 100% of your college tuition and certain fees.

Cost limits:

• Not to exceed $250 per semester credit hour or $166 per quarter credit hour
• Not to exceed $4,500 per fiscal year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30)

Not covered by TA:

• Books and course materials
• Flight training fees
• Taking the same course twice
• Courses in which the student received a failing grade
• Continuing education units (CEUs)

Batten University has partnered with MYCAA to offer workforce development training to military spouses. The scholarship provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses pursuing a license, certification, or associate degree necessary to gain employment.

Eligibility:

• Annual fiscal year cap of $2,000 (waiver available if costs exceed $2,000, up to the $4,000 maximum)
• Spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-6, W-1 to W-2, and O-1 to O-3
• Must have completed high school and have the ability to request tuition assistance while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders
• Spouses married to members of the National Guard and Reserves in the same pay grades are also eligible

Not covered:

• Tuition for courses not included in the spouse's Education and Training Plan, or courses already started or completed
• Reimbursements of any kind
• Books, supplies, equipment, uniforms, computers, and electronic devices
• Student activities, events, and entertainment

Preparing for your next step after active-duty service starts with the right skills and credentials. Army CA will pay up to $4,000 per year for training and credentials in high-demand fields, with dozens of eligible certifications to choose from.

The General Education Mobile (GEM) Program is a partnership between the Community College of the Air Force and Batten University to offer general education courses meeting CCAF associate in applied science requirements. Online courses are available during mini-terms offered four times per year.

Air Force Portal Guide

1. Log into the Air Force Portal and select Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC).
2. Select "GEM Program" and search for Approved GEM Schools.
3. Find Batten University and view the list of approved general education courses.
4. Click on the course title to view the description.
5. If you do not already have a CCAF education goal, you will need to create one.
6. Once your education goals are set, apply for Air Force Tuition Assistance in the AFVEC portal. Batten University's OPEID code is 00376700.
7. Register online or call your local Education and Training Section. Please identify yourself as a GEM student when you call.
