The Athenaeum

Located in the H.C. Hofheimer II Library, the Athenaeum is Batten University's center for experiential learning. It brings together four academic support programs under one roof — helping students connect their classroom education to real-world internships, global study, faculty-mentored research, and community engagement.
The Athenaeum also works with students one-on-one to build individualized road maps for academic, professional, and personal achievement — from freshman year through graduation and beyond.

Undergraduate Research
Faculty-mentored research opportunities across most majors, supported by research grants, conference grants, and a workshop series that guides you through the entire research process.

Summer High Impact Practice Program (SHIPP)
SHIPP is a competitive summer funding program that supports students pursuing immersive, credit-bearing experiences across all three Athenaeum disciplines. Applications are accepted each spring semester.
Academic Symposium
Each spring, the Academic Symposium brings together the best of Batten's undergraduate scholarship — showcasing student research, creative projects, and experiential learning outcomes from across all four Athenaeum programs. It's one day, every year, where the whole campus gets to see what students actually accomplish here.
